How to See Your Subscribers on YouTube (2026 Guide)
Knowing how many subscribers you have — and who they are — is basic channel management. Yet many creators either don't know where to find this information or never look at it beyond the public number on their channel page.
YouTube provides several ways to view your subscriber count, see individual subscribers, and track growth patterns. Here's exactly how to access all of it.
Where to Find Your Subscriber Count
On Your Channel Page
The simplest way: go to your YouTube channel page. Your subscriber count is displayed publicly below your channel name.
On desktop:
On mobile:
Note: If you have fewer than 1,000 subscribers, YouTube may hide your exact count and show it as "<1,000 subscribers" on your public page. You can still see the exact number in YouTube Studio.
In YouTube Studio (Most Detailed)
YouTube Studio gives you the most comprehensive view of your subscriber data.
Step-by-step:
The Audience tab shows:
- Total subscribers — Your current count
- Subscribers gained — New subscribers over the selected time period
- Subscribers lost — Unsubscribes over the selected period
- Real-time subscribers — Current count updated every few minutes (not available for channels under 100 subscribers)
On the Dashboard
The YouTube Studio dashboard gives you a quick overview:
Viewing Your Individual Subscribers
YouTube lets you see who your most recent subscribers are (up to 100).
How to view your subscriber list:
This shows:
- Username of each subscriber
- How many subscribers they have
- When they subscribed (relative to now)
Limitations:
- Only shows the last 100 subscribers
- Only shows subscribers whose subscriptions are set to public
- Private subscriptions won't appear in this list
Why This List Matters
Seeing who subscribes to your channel helps you:
- Understand your audience — Are they other creators? Viewers? Businesses?
- Identify potential collaborators — Creators in your niche who follow you
- Track subscriber quality — Accounts with millions of subscribers vs. regular viewers
- Spot patterns — When do you gain the most subscribers?
Tracking Subscriber Growth Over Time
The Analytics Time Range
YouTube Studio lets you view subscriber data across different time ranges:
- Last 7 days — Short-term trends
- Last 28 days — Standard monthly view
- Last 90 days — Quarterly trends
- Last 365 days — Annual growth
- Lifetime — Total channel history

Understanding Growth Patterns
Your subscriber growth chart reveals important patterns:
Steady upward line: Healthy organic growth. You're consistently attracting and retaining subscribers.
Spike followed by plateau: A video went viral, but you didn't convert those viewers into recurring subscribers. Focus on subscriber conversion.
Flat line: Stagnant growth. You're not attracting new subscribers or losing them at the same rate. Time to evaluate your content strategy.
Downward trend: You're losing more subscribers than you're gaining. Check for content shifts, inconsistent uploads, or controversial content.
Real-Time Subscriber Count
For channels with 100+ subscribers, YouTube Studio shows a real-time subscriber count that updates every few minutes.
How to access:
Note: Real-time count shows total subscribers, including private subscriptions. This is why it may differ slightly from your public count.
Using Third-Party Subscriber Trackers
While YouTube Studio provides comprehensive data, some creators prefer third-party tools for additional features:
Social Blade
- Tracks daily subscriber changes
- Provides channel rankings
- Shows estimated earnings
- Compares your channel to others
- Free and paid tiers
VidIQ
- Subscriber growth predictions
- Historical data visualization
- Competitor tracking
- Browser extension for YouTube
TubeBuddy
- Subscriber milestone celebrations
- Growth analytics
- Keyword research tools
- A/B testing for thumbnails
Important: Never use tools that promise to reveal "who unsubscribed." YouTube doesn't provide this data to any third party, and tools claiming to offer it are likely scams.
What Subscriber Numbers Tell You (And What They Don't)
What Subscriber Count Reveals
- Channel authority — Higher subscriber counts signal established channels
- Growth trajectory — Increasing counts show momentum
- Audience interest — Steady growth indicates consistent content value
- Monetization eligibility — 1,000 subscribers is the YPP threshold
What Subscriber Count Doesn't Reveal
- Actual viewership — Many subscribers might not watch your videos
- Engagement quality — A video with 10,000 subscribers might get 500 views
- Revenue potential — Niche and CPM matter more than subscriber count
- Channel health — You need analytics to assess true performance
The Vanity Trap
Subscriber count is often called a "vanity metric" because it looks impressive but doesn't directly translate to business outcomes.
A channel with 10,000 subscribers and 2,000 views per video is less valuable (for most purposes) than a channel with 2,000 subscribers and 10,000 views per video.
Focus on:
- View-to-subscriber ratio
- Returning viewer rate
- Average view duration
- Click-through rate
These metrics tell you more about your channel's health than subscriber count alone.
Subscriber Milestones and What They Unlock
YouTube provides different features based on subscriber count:
Custom URL (100+ Subscribers)
Once you hit 100 subscribers, you can claim a custom URL like youtube.com/c/YourChannelName. This makes your channel easier to find and share.
How to set it up:
Community Tab (500+ Subscribers)
The Community tab lets you post polls, images, and text updates to your subscribers. It's a powerful engagement tool.
Effective Community tab strategies:
- Polls about upcoming content
- Behind-the-scenes photos
- Highlights from recent videos
- Questions that spark discussion
YouTube Partner Program (1,000+ Subscribers)
At 1,000 subscribers (plus 4,000 watch hours or 10M Shorts views), you can apply for the Partner Program, which unlocks:
- Ad revenue
- Channel memberships
- Super Chat and Super Stickers
- Merchandise shelf
Common Questions About Subscriber Counts
Why Does My Subscriber Count Fluctuate?
YouTube regularly removes spam accounts and bots. This can cause sudden drops in subscriber count. These are legitimate removals — the accounts were fake or violating YouTube's terms.
Can I See Who Unsubscribed?
No. YouTube does not provide this data to creators. Any tool claiming to show who unsubscribed is either using incomplete data or scamming you.
Why Is My Subscriber Count Different on Different Devices?
It might be a caching issue. YouTube updates subscriber counts periodically, and different devices might show slightly different numbers. The count in YouTube Studio is the most accurate.
Do Likes and Comments Affect Subscriber Count?
Not directly. However, videos with high engagement (likes, comments, shares) tend to be recommended more by the algorithm, which can lead to more subscribers.
Should I Hide My Subscriber Count?
For channels under 1,000 subscribers, YouTube hides the count by default. For larger channels, hiding the count might reduce social proof, but some creators do it to reduce pressure and focus on content quality.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I check my YouTube subscriber count? A: Go to YouTube Studio (studio.youtube.com) → Dashboard or Analytics → Audience. Your subscriber count is displayed prominently in both locations.
Q: Can I see who subscribed to my YouTube channel? A: Yes, but only the last 100 subscribers whose subscriptions are set to public. Go to YouTube Studio → Dashboard → Channel analytics → Subscribers, or visit youtube.com/subscribers.
Q: Why did my subscriber count drop suddenly? A: YouTube regularly removes spam accounts, bots, and inactive accounts. These legitimate removals can cause sudden drops. Focus on genuine growth rather than worrying about minor fluctuations.
Q: How often does YouTube update subscriber counts? A: YouTube updates subscriber counts in real-time for public display, but there can be a delay of a few minutes to a few hours. YouTube Studio shows the most up-to-date count.
Q: Can I see my subscriber growth over time? A: Yes. Go to YouTube Studio → Analytics → Audience. Use the date range selector to view growth over the last 7 days, 28 days, 90 days, 365 days, or lifetime.
Q: Why does my subscriber count show differently on YouTube vs. YouTube Studio? A: Public subscriber count may hide exact numbers for channels under 1,000 subscribers. YouTube Studio always shows the exact count. There can also be slight delays in public count updates.
